Cable Stand
Just as copper cables, NEC (National Electrical Code) requires the interior of the fiber optic cables be marked with their fire and ratings smoking. NEC requires all indoor fiber cables should be marked correctly and installed properly for its intended use.
According to NEC, area within a building is divided into three sections: plenums, risers and general purpose areas.
:: What is a Plenum area?
A plenum area is an area of construction used for the flow of air or system air distribution. In most buildings, the area above a suspended ceiling or under a raised floor is used as the recovery air (air source) for air conditioning. The suspended ceiling and raised floors are also those where fiber cables are often installed. If these cables were burned, they emit toxic fumes and smoke are fed to the rest of the building by the air conditioner. Consequently, people could be injured, even if they are away from the fire.

An area Riser is an opening in the floor, a tree or a pipe that extends vertically through one or more floors
:: What is General Purpose field?
All other areas not plenum or riser and on the same floor is a general purpose zone.

OFNP Cables:
OFNP is synonymous with optical fiber nonconductive Plenum. Cables OFNP have fire resistance and low smoke-producing power. They can be installed in ducts, plenums and other spaces used for the airflow of the building. This is higher than the fiber cable fire rating and no other types of cables can be used as substitutes.
OFCP Cables:
OFCP stands for Optical Fiber Conductive Plenum. Cables OFCP have the same fire and smoke rating of the cables but they OFNP driving an armor or central strength which is usually steel. OFCP cables must be grounded at both ends. Consequently, OFCP cables can be installed in the same cable tray or conduit as power cables.
OFNR Cables:
OFNR stands for optical fiber nonconductive riser. OFNR cables are used in areas that build Riser vertical wells or running from one floor to a another floor. OFNR cables can not be installed in plenum areas since they do not have the required fire rating and smoking as plenum cables. Plenum OFNP cables can be used as substitutes for OFNR cables.
OFCR cables:
OFCR stands for Optical Fiber Conductive Riser. Cables OFCR have the same characteristics of fire rating as OFNR cables but they have conducting armor or a member of the central force which is generally Steel. OFCR cables should be grounded at both ends. OFCP cables can be used as substitutes for OFCR cables. OFCR cables can not be installed in cable trays or conduits as power cables.
OFNG Cables:
OFNG is synonymous with optical fiber nonconductive general purpose. They are typically used in horizontal cabling, applications single story. Cables OFNG can not be used in plenums or vents. OFNP OFNR cables and both can be used as substitutes for OFNG cables.
OFCG Cables:
OFCG stands for optical fibers conductive to general use. They have the characteristics of fire as well as cables OFNG but they have conducting armor or members of the central force which is usually steel. OFCG cables must be correctly grounded at both ends. They should not be installed in the same cable tray or conduit as power cables.
